Blossoming with so many beautiful gardens and landscapes, RBGE host events in their grounds, in amongst the botanicals, or overlooking striking views of flora, fauna and the ancient city of Edinburgh. The perfect event spaces, gardens remove us from our daily concerns and, surrounded by nature, guests are put at ease and can feel immersed in the moment. Indeed, according to colour-phycology green imbues individuals with feelings of comfort and well-being. This paired with the fresh air, free space and stimulating sights and smells encourages heightened sprits and social interaction – the perfect environment for weddings, receptions and corporate events alike.

John Muir Grove
John Muir Grove is a valley of gloriously tall redwood trees that can be hired for outdoor wedding and commemorative ceremonies. The redwoods were planted in the 1920s and have reached over 24m in height (!) making for a cathedral-like atmosphere. A truly fairy-tale setting for those moments to remember.
Caledonian Hall
Nestled in the heart of the Botanical Garden, the elegant Caledonian Hall overlooks RBGE’s famous Rock Garden. Built during the Victorian era – and originally used as a Herbarium – the Hall can be hired as a private venue, accommodating up to 100 guests, and with the option of adding an adjacentoutdoor-marquee and sumptuous BBQ to the event.
The John Hope Gateway Restaurant and Decking
The Gateway
terrace is newly refurbished, with contemporary decking, an outdoor pizza oven and barbeque pit – perfect for al freso eating, dinners, receptions and parties. The terrace overlooks RBGE’s beautiful biodiversity pond and gardens and follows on from the state of the art and eco-friendly John Hope Gateway Restaurant.
Tours of The Gardens
Guided tours of the gardens can be booked as ‘add-ons’ to any event though RBGE themselves. Tours are hosted by Garden Guides who will touch on the history and work of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, before focusing on the gardens’ many seasonal highlights and hidden treasures. Lasting 90 mins, groups of 10 are charged at £70 for the entire group.
